Welcome to MusicSUS! Whether you are a solo instrumentalist looking for a casual jam, a band looking for a stage, a recording studio managing time slots, or an established venue looking to fill your calendar, MusicSUS is built to connect you to your local music community.


Instead of navigating fragmented social media groups and text threads, MusicSUS brings your performances, setlists, and booking arrangements into a single, cohesive hub.


Here is a quick look at the core building blocks of our platform and how they work together.

1. Accounts: Your Musical Identity

Your MusicSUS account can adapt to represent whatever role you play in the community. An account can represent:


  • An Individual: A solo performer, session musician, or hobbyist.
  • A Group: A band, ensemble, or group of performers.
  • A Business or Non-Profit: A commercial establishment, a community center, or specialized service provider (like a recording studio).

2. Sessions: The Heart of the Platform

A Session is essentially an event with a designated time and location. However, because we are built specifically for musicians, a session includes two special features:


  • Tunes (The Setlist): Creators can list the exact tracks or charts to be played, allowing everyone to rehearse and arrive on the same page.
  • Positions: These are slots that need to be filled.

  • An Open Mic organizer might use Positions to represent individual time slots or line-up order.
  • A Recording Studio might use Positions to represent available studio slots for engineers or artists to book.

As a session moves from planning to performance, it travels through several distinct statuses managed by the creator:


  • Draft: The session is not published. You are building the setlist and arranging the performer positions.
  • Open: The session is published. Public sessions are browsable by all users and performers can now view the setlist and apply for open positions.
  • Close: The session stops accepting new applicants.
  • Ready: You have selected your roster, finalized the setlist, and the session is ready for action.
  • Complete / Cancel: The event is resolved!

3. Venues: Where the Music Happens

A Venue is any physical location where a session can take place—whether that's a backyard garage session, a neighborhood bar, a major theater, or a multi-room recording studio.


  • Verified Establishments: To give creators and applying performers confidence, commercial establishments can go through our verification process to receive an authenticity badge.
  • Rosters & Bookings: Artists can request official bookings from verified venues. Venue operators can review these incoming submissions, manage their upcoming calendar, and lock in acts for their live talent rosters.

  • If you manage a space, head over to Venues to register your location and open up your calendar for booking requests.
