What is a Session?
A Session is the heartbeat of MusicSUS. At its core, it is an event with a time and a place—but supercharged specifically for the music community. Along with standard event details, a Session allows you to attach a specific list of Tunes (your setlist) and define open Performer Positions (the exact roles and instruments you need to fill).
When you create a Session, you have access to a robust set of settings and details to perfectly tailor your event. Here is a breakdown of what you can configure:
Core Details
- Name & Description: Give your session a catchy title and explain what you are looking to achieve.
- Photos & Links: Add visual flair and external links (like social media, reference material, or previous performances) to give applicants a better feel for the project.
- Session Type: This categorizes the intent of your session (e.g., Audition, Collab, Rehearsal, Gig). Choosing the right type is crucial, as it helps other users find your session when filtering the browsable session list.
- Skill Level: Set a baseline by indicating the minimum desired skill level for applicants.
Logistics
- Date & Time: Set your start and end datetimes. (Note: These are not strictly required, allowing you to create a session even if you are still working out the final schedule!)
- Location: By default, your session inherits your account's general region (city, neighborhood, or postal code). When you are ready, you can update this to a specific street address or confirm a venue you own or is offered by an applicant.
- Schedule & Location Notes: Add specialized instructions, such as parking details, gear to bring, or load-in times.
Privacy & Visibility
We know that not every session is meant for the whole world to see. MusicSUS gives you some control over who sees what:
- Session Visibility:
- Public: Once activated, your session will appear on the application's browsable session list for anyone to find.
- Private: Your session will not appear on the public list, but it remains fully accessible to anyone you share the direct URL with.
- Schedule Visibility: You can choose to keep your exact schedule details, location, and location details private. A private schedule is only visible to confirmed session participants: the session creator, confirmed venue owners, and approved performers.
Communication
- Session Chat: Easily enable or disable a built-in live chat dedicated exclusively to your approved session participants.
